System One Launches Initiative to Connect Veterans with Careers
Veterans Resources Practice to Promote Recruiting and Hiring
Release: January 2011
Pittsburgh, PA, January 12, 2011–System One, the leader in technical outsourcing and careers, has launched a Veterans Resources practice to connect employers across diverse technical industries with skilled former military service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. A dedicated team will be focused on building a national veterans workforce consisting of screened, available individuals ready to accept challenging direct hire positions and consulting engagements.
Each year, more than 300,000 U.S. troops complete their military service, providing a ready-made, highly-trained workforce ready to transition to professional opportunities. Yet, the unemployment rate among veterans remains high, particularly among veterans of Gulf wars since September 2001. “U.S. veterans possess the leadership and integrity to excel in the workplace, but too often their unique contributions are overlooked,” said Troy Gregory, Chief Executive Officer of System One. “System One is proud to serve as a national advocate for the hiring of ‘workplace warriors’ who can make an immediate and lasting impact on our country’s prosperity.”
System One Veterans Resources is led by General Manager Jesse Canella, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Director Alyse Zwick, Miss New York 2009 and long-term veterans community supporter. Canella also founded HonorVet, Inc., an organization dedicated to helping veterans recover, re-integrate and thrive in civilian life. Zwick serves as the official spokesperson for the United War Veterans Council in New York City and volunteers with Walter Reed Army Medical Center and The USO, among other military organizations.
“Alyse and I are honored and excited to develop a veterans program for System One,” said Canella. “The company’s focus on technical expertise and energy independence represent a perfect fit for this hiring initiative, and we look forward to creating a national resource for veterans and employers alike.”
